The NBA trade deadline has come to an end. Let’s look at the most significant trades that happened in the last couple of months.


On January 7, the Atlanta Hawks traded Kyle Korver for the Cleveland Cavalier’s Mike Dunleavy, Mo Williams, and a future first round draft pick. As a Hawk, Kyle Korver had a record setting 127 consecutive games with a 3 pointer and was a 1 time NBA All-Star. The Cavaliers were looking for a player to fill that gap of J.R. Smith, an explosive 3 point shooter who has been injured since mid December. The Hawks grab a future first round pick that they hope can eventually makeup for the loss of Korver.

On February 13th, the Portland Trail Blazers traded Mason Plumlee, a 2018 second round pick, and cash considerations for Jusuf Nurkic and a 2017 first round pick. Jusuf Nurkic is a young player on a rookie contract while Mason Plumlee should pair up well in the frontcourt with Nikola Jokic.

On February 14th, the Toronto Raptors traded Serge Ibaka for Terrence Ross and a 2017 first round pick. Serge Ibaka will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, but should fit right in with Kyle Lowry and DeMar Derozan.

On February 22nd, the New Orleans Pelicans traded Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, a 2017 first round pick, & a 2017 second round pick for DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi of the Sacramento Kings. DeMarcus Cousins is one of the top big men in the league, but has a big temper and had the opportunity to get a 5 year, $109 Million contract if he were to have stayed in Sacramento. Cousins and Anthony Davis, another talented front court player, are sure to be at the top of big men dous in the NBA. The first round pick is a possible lottery pick as the Pelicans are currently just outside the top 8 in the western conference and could bring a new star to Sacramento.

The Dallas Mavericks trade Justin Anderson, Andrew Bogut, and a 2017 first round pick for Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia 76ers. The Mavs get a younger and more athletic center to pair up with Dirk Nowitzki in the frontcourt while the 76ers add more depth to their line up and grab another first round pick.

The Houston Rockets trade Corey Brewer and a 2017 first round pick for Lou Williams of the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers, a team in rebuilding mode, acquire a first round pick for this year and the Rockets get a sharpshooter in Lou Williams, who is averaging a career high 18.6 points in 24.2 minutes this season.
