The highly anticipated sequel, “Creed II,” hit theaters on November 21. The film, directed by Steven Caple Jr., portrays the struggle of boxer Adonis Johnson, played by Michael B. Jordan. His father, Apollo Creed (played by Carl Weathers), was brutally killed by Ivan Drago (played by Dolph Lundgren) in “Rocky IV.” The movie is a sequel to the original “Creed.” In the original, Creed wishes to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a boxer. He does so and builds up his resume. Not quite on the big stage yet, Adonis Johnson gets a lucky break by being allowed to fight the world heavyweight champion for the title, only if he goes by the designation “Creed.” After a long, hard fought match, Creed lost by a split decision, making his total record of 16 wins and one loss. Even though he didn’t win, Creed earned the respect of boxers and fans of boxing around the world.
Adonis Johnson became a more accomplished boxer by winning the world heavyweight championship with a record of 22 wins and one loss (all wins by knockout). A boxing promoter came up with a golden idea: a Creed versus Drago rematch. Adonis Johnson would be fighting the son of Ivan Drago, Viktor Drago (played by Florian Munteanu). Adonis Creed has a chip on his shoulder due to conflicts with the Drago family. Adonis’ goal was to avenge the death of his father and Viktor’s goal was to procure the belt from Johnson.
With much hype for the movie, record producer and songwriter, Mike Will Made-it, created an album to be in conjunction with the film. Ludwig Goransson made the official soundtrack. These songs were featured in the movie to exemplify intense situations. During boxing scenes, the music created an up-beat tone. In contrast, during suspenseful scenes of the movie, there was an intense tone. Famous rappers such as Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Young Thug, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Quavo and A$AP Rocky added to the movie’s popularity and vice versa.

I really enjoyed this movie and would give it a 5/5 rating. The boxing scenes were extremely realistic. I appreciated this because, as a boxing picture, it seems excruciatingly hard to perfect the motions of the actors. Not only was it about boxing, but there was drama with Creed’s wife, Bianca. The motives of both characters gave me a clear sense of who I wanted to win.
I would recommend this movie to everyone who enjoys sports and suspense. This movie covers all aspects that a film should cover. It has an intriguing plot that makes the audience have sympathy for the main characters. It blends an emotional conflict with a physical conflict very well, thus adding to the tension of the fight. It is hard not to be engaged in this film while watching. When the movie concluded, I did not want it to end.
